Help us help the homeless this year
Each year, a group of us in Santa Cruz California get together and put hygiene kits together for the homeless.
Often, a homeless person will have a job interview or other meeting that can make the difference for them to get back on their feet. These kits help them clean up, and are the most prized item around the holidays at the homeless shelter here. Last year we put together almost 200 kits. Help us top that number this year. Here are the items we need:
See this show, and I mean it…
I met an old friend at the Museum of Art and History in Santa Cruz on the first friday this November. After hugs and a little catching up, she confided in me that she’d just seen a show of exquisite pastels around the corner that changed her world. I knew exactly who she was talking about because I’d just been there myself. The artist is Erika Perloff, and the show is up through the end of November at the Artisan’s Gallery. If you do anything in November, please see this show.
Stone Soup Circle (Sundays at 4:30) a success
We had the first Stone Soup Circle event last week, and it was a great success. My intentions of a saner and more spirit-based event were manifest. Check it out:
My intention for Stone Soup Circle: To create and support a community of people who are willing supporters of each other in the struggle for spiritual-evolution. To create an organization bigger than myself; an organization with full equal participation by all members.
Here’s my definition of Evolution: To transcend and include what was before, read Ken Wilbur for more on this concept. This, I think, can lead to 1. an expanded awareness of my purpose, 2. greater understanding, and finally, 3. awakening.
And here’s why I am drawn to grow in community.
A community is greater than the sum of its parts. When a group of people engage in something with intention, the change happens faster. I want to share my knowledge and support others. And, I want others to share with me and support me.
