Help us help the homeless this year

Each year, a group of us in Santa Cruz California get together and put hygiene kits together for the homeless.

Often, a homeless person will have a job interview or other meeting that can make the difference for them to get back on their feet. These kits help them clean up, and are the most prized item around the holidays at the homeless shelter here. Last year we put together almost 200 kits. Help us top that number this year. Here are the items we need:

  • socks – clean – gently used or new (They need not match exactly)
  • 1 quart ziploc bags
  • tiny ziplog bags (for first-aid items)
  • travel or hotel-sized:
    • shampoo
    • conditioner
    • sun block
    • moisterizer
    • hand sanitizer
    • toothpaste
  • neosporin single-application packs
  • cotton swabs
  • band-aids
  • combs (you can buy multipacks of these in the drug store or dollar store)
  • toothbrushes
  • Individually packaged moist towelettes
  • chap-stick or lip balm
  • disposable razors
  • wrapped candy

In addition, we carry in towels and jackets to the homeless shelter along with our hygiene kits.

If you want to donate any of these items, send them to:
